Background Info - DMS Systems

Document Management Systems can be used by many manufacturing, and distribution companies. They maintain a centralized database of all documents that are related to managing customers, vendors, or employees.

See Typical Customer Documents for a list of documents that are typically used to manage communications with customers.

See Typical Vendor Documents for a list of documents that are typically used to manage communications with vendors.

See Typical Engineering Documents for a list of documents that are typically used to management communications with internal or external engineers.

See Typical Employee Documents for a list of documents that are typically used to manage communications with employees, or hiring candidates.

Document Management Systems can operate either in a standalone mode, or they can be integrated with the company's ERP System, its Shipping System, and/or it's CAD System. Because a significant number of the desired documents are generated by these other systems, it is ideal if their interfaces cause the applicable documents to be automatically filed in the Document Management System.
