Quality Management Systems are used by manufacturing, and distribution companies, to manage quality related information that is required, by their customers, or the industries that they sell their products into. This information is typically related to the raw materials, or components, that they purchase, and/or to their internal manufacturing, or distribution, processes. These systems manage a centralized database of all quality related information, and they support the distribution of this information, as required, to the applicable customers. This system is typically used by the company's quality function.
Quality Management Systems can operate, either in a standalone mode, or they can be interfaced with the company's ERP System, and/or the company's DMS System. Many companies use custom developed Quality Systems.
