Introduction
Our TCM Migration Services are designed for companies using TCM that find themselves in a position where they need to 1) migrate information from other ERP systems, 2) migrate information from previous versions of TCM, or 3) replace their use of TCM with new ERP software.
Many of these companies have used TCM for many years (in some cases 20+ years) and use the TCM functionality extensively. As a result, they have built up extensive files of TCM data that some of them would like to electronically migrate to their new ERP software. The challenge migrating significant amounts of TCM data files is that TCM is not built on a relational data base manager, and is made up of of hundreds of ISAM files. Our Migration Services facilitate the electronic migration of virtually the entire set of TCM data files, including all open orders/items files. and major history files.
Overview
Our TCM Migration Services are offered jointly with The Romans Group, Inc. (TRG) and can include:
Software Selection Services
- Services designed to help users of TCM select and implement a new enterprise management system.
TCM Extraction Services
- TCM Data Extraction Utilities that extract virtually the entire set of TCM databases into flat files that can be loaded into any current relational database. These Utilities extract all master files, all open orders (customer orders, purchase orders, and shop orders) and open estimates, all open items (A/P and A/R), and most major history files. See bottom of this page for a complete list of the specific TCM files included in the standard Extraction Utility. Note this Utility can also be customized to extract client unique TCM data fields and/or data files.
- Each extracted data file includes a schema for all data fields.
- The ability to "cleanup" and "normalize" the TCM data during the extraction process, which is a required process before it can be loaded into any relational database manager.
- The ability to mass change the TCM data during the extraction process. This is helpful when changing key data management techniques and data field specifications, used by TCM, to utilize the corresponding techniques and specifications used by the new ERP software.
- The ability to repeat the extraction process as often as needed. K&A recommends three passes of the extraction process: Pass #1 for training and preliminary testing, Pass #2 for final testing, and Pass #3 for the productive cutover.
TCM Data Uploading Services
- The ability to assist uploading of the TCM data into the new ERP system. This service applies to companies implementing SyteLine, available from MAPICS.
TCM History Services
- The ability to move desired TCM history files to the server running the new ERP system. The TCM history files can be pre-loaded into a relational database, using MS-Access, SQL, Oracle, or Progress, and are available for use with "modern" report writers/inquiry tools such as Crystal Reports.
EDI Services
- The ability to continue to use Trusted Link as the EDI System with the new ERP system. Most ERP vendors support/understand only one EDI System and recommend that companies purchasing their ERP system and requiring EDI, replace their EDI system. Many times this change is unnecessary. Replacing the EDI System can consume significant time, resources, and funds and can be unnecessary expansion of scope during a critical phase of the ERP implementation project.
TCM Data Collection Services
- The ability to migrate the TCM Data Collection System to the new ERP System.
TCM Extraction Services
Most new ERP vendors allow former TCM customers the option of electronically converting TCM data into their new ERP system, assuming that the TCM customer can extract the required data from TCM. This extraction can be very difficult because of the underlying TCM databases.
